About the region

The Istrian Peninsula is one of the most popular resorts among tourists vacationing in Croatia. And this is quite justified – Istria can be compared to a paradise where the atmosphere is measured and relaxing. The nature here is striking in its beauty: the cleanest sea, rocky coast, pine forests and leafy parks create a harmonious combination that you want to admire every second. It is easy to breathe and rest comfortably. And the ancient cities, which are simply littered with the entire peninsula, add to the rest an additional flavor.

Pula, Porec, Novigrad, Umag, Motovun, Rovinj – they all have a rich history and can tell many interesting things to their guests. And on the peninsula is the smallest city in the world – Hum, which is home to … only 17 people. Due to historical events and geographical location, Istria was significantly influenced by Italy – the peninsula went to this country when the Austro-Hungarian Empire was divided. Therefore, here, like in no other place in Croatia, you will be delighted with the most delicious pizza, pasta and other delicacies of Italian origin, which are considered traditional on a par with Croatian cuisine.

Many holidaymakers in this part of Croatia are families with children, despite certain specifics of the beaches (more on this later). Impeccable ecology, clean sea water and healthy air are unconditional factors in favor of this resort. Many bring children here to get rid of lingering bronchitis, tonsillitis and even asthma. In addition, the tourist infrastructure is well developed on the peninsula, offering a wide range of hotels, apartments, villas at relatively low prices. On the peninsula, much attention is paid to sport. Here you can see tennis courts, numerous bike lanes, a variety of water sports activities.

It is worth paying attention to the fact that Istrian beaches are mostly rocky shore or concrete slab with ladders. Pebbles are less common. Of course, this kind of beaches are less comfortable than small pebble and sandy beaches for bathing babies. In order to somehow compensate for this drawback, small areas of shallow water for swimming and games are equipped for small vacationers on many beaches, a little away from the platforms, and almost all hotels in Istria offer children’s swimming pools with sea water. Pebble beaches are also found, they are typical for such resort places as Rabac, Red Island, Medulin.
